Ben Shapiro interviewed both John MacArthur (Protestant, Evangelical) and Bishop Robert Barron (Roman Catholic). The article below includes video clips of the interviews as well as links to the full interviews.
We highly respect a number of great philosophers who are Roman Catholic, and I've even met some Roman Catholics who sound more 'evangelical' and know the Bible better than some protestants do, however, there are still issues within the Roman Catholic church's official teachings which do not line up with scripture and/or the teachings of Christ.
A very interesting one is surrounding Islam. For example, this is what the Catechism of the Catholic Church says in regard to Muslims.
Part 1, Section 2, Chapter 3, Article 9, Paragraph 3, #841:
"The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."
Not only does Islam teach a false view of God, but the CCC commits the 'Abrahamic Fallacy' because it assumes that Islam has a correct understanding of Abraham, when it actually does not. The Judeo-Christian understanding of Abraham corresponds with actual history. Islam teaches a false view of Abraham which is not factually based.
