In a recent interview on Ongehoord Nederland TV, Filip Dewinter, a Member of the Flemish Parliament representing Belgium’s Vlaams Belang Party, made hard-hitting statements regarding the dangers posed by asylum seekers and immigration, calling them “the fifth column of Islam” and likening them to a “hostile army without weapons.”
Dewinter expressed concerns about the influx of asylum seekers into Europe, emphasizing that many arrive with unknown backgrounds and motives, stating, “And in the asylum influx are a lot of people we don’t want here. And we don’t know who they are, with all the consequences that follow.”
Advocating for a halt in the asylum flow, Dewinter proposed a solution, saying, “What must happen is quite simple: We have to receive the asylum seekers outside of Europe. Once they are inside, it’s hard to get them out.”
Further elaborating on his position, Dewinter addressed the broader implications of immigration, warning against the Islamization of Europe. He warned “That Islam is our enemy and ultimately wants to take over Europe. That there is a kind of hostile occupation where Europe becomes Arabia.”
Dewinter also touched on the ideological dimensions of immigration, linking it to LGBTQ rights and climate activism. He argued that immigration should be viewed as a privilege, not a right, asserting, “Immigration is not a human right. It is a privilege.” He emphasized the importance of national sovereignty in determining immigration policies, stating, “It is our prerogative to decide who comes here, not the other way around.”
Dewinter’s unapologetic stance on immigration reflects the position of Vlaams Belang, the only conservative party in Belgium, and underscores the ongoing debate over immigration policies in Europe. As Belgium grapples with unchecked mass migration and failed integration, Dewinter’s remarks have once again called into question the left-wing government’s open border policies.
