Kristallnacht 2.0 Toronto Synagogue Targeted Again Shouts of Heil Hitler Video

Toronto, May 2024 – The phrase “never again,” born from the horrors of the Holocaust, was intended to ensure that such atrocities would never be repeated. Yet, here we are in 2024, Canada, witnessing a disturbing surge in antisemitic violence that echoes the darkest chapters of history.

On Friday morning, the Kehillat Shaarei Torah synagogue in Toronto became the target of an attack for the second time in less than a month. Radicals shattered the synagogue’s windows and doors, leaving behind a scene reminiscent of Kristallnacht—the “night of broken glass” in Nazi Germany, where Jewish-owned stores and synagogues were destroyed in a state-sponsored pogrom.

This recent attack is part of a troubling pattern. Since the Islamic terrorist attacks against Israel on October 7, Jewish-owned businesses and places of worship have faced increasing vandalism across Canada and around the world. The violence has left the Jewish community feeling vulnerable and abandoned.

Rebel Media’s David Menzies visited the synagogue on Friday afternoon and spoke with Avi, a worker from Neon Windows and Doors, who was repairing the damage. “This is the second time we’ve been here in three weeks,” Avi said, estimating the repair costs to be in the thousands of dollars. “They targeted us on the Sabbath again. It’s like they want to hurt us where it hits hardest.”

Toronto police have launched a hate crime investigation and are reviewing video surveillance footage from the synagogue. The footage shows a masked individual, making identification difficult. Despite these challenges, the community remains resilient.

A sign on the synagogue’s lawn reads, “Windows shatter easily, communities don’t,” a testament to their determination. “Much like the state of Israel, this place of worship is not planning to go away,” Avi affirmed.

Reflecting on the rise in antisemitic incidents, it’s clear that there’s a double standard in how such crimes are addressed. Recent attacks on Jewish children in local schools have only added to the community’s sense of vulnerability. “A young Jewish boy was threatened and attacked, with his assailants referencing the horrors of October 7,” Avi recounted. “We’re resilient, but it’s heartbreaking to see our leaders and government do so little.”

The frustration is palpable. “If this had happened to a Muslim girl, the outcry would be immediate,” noted Menzies. “There’s a clear double standard, and it’s evident in the response to these hate crimes.”

These incidents underscore the growing threat that Jewish communities are facing in Canada and across the West. Just hours ago, RAIR Foundation reported on a disturbing video from inside the left-wing, Hamas-supporting encampment at the University of Toronto. A young man, whose face is hidden behind a mask and hood, praises Hitler, shouting,

“Heil Hitler. Heil Hitler. Heil Hitler. He’s a G. He’s a gangster. I wish he had (inaudible) all you guys, bro. The world would have been a better place. If you guys were gone, the world would be a better place because you run the world. The Jews run the world.”

As we witness these disturbing echoes of the past, the promise of “never again” feels increasingly at risk.
