Marked For Death Amsterdam Police Thwart Assassination Attempt on PVV Leader Geert Wilders

Wilders revealed the overwhelming frequency of these threats, receiving about a thousand each year, often accompanied by explicit pictures, beheading videos, and audio recordings, primarily originating from Pakistan.

In a dramatic turn of events, the Amsterdam police force successfully prevented a potential assassination attempt on the life of Geert Wilders, leader of the Dutch political party PVV. The apprehension of a suspect, who had reportedly been planning an attack on the prominent politician, unfolded over the weekend when Amsterdam police officers swooped in on the individual’s residence.

The details surrounding the thwarted attack remain shrouded in mystery as investigations unravel the precise sequence of events. However, Geert Wilders expressed his gratitude towards the Amsterdam police unit, acknowledging their swift and decisive action. In a statement, he remarked, “Many thanks to the Amsterdam police unit, who this weekend arrested an individual in-residence regarding a threat to murder me. Thanks to the team of threatened politicians at the police headquarters in The Hague, I was able to quickly file the complaint. Without the police, I would have been fair game.”

Police Action and Suspect Arrest

The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed by authorities, was apprehended on Friday evening following a threat directed at Wilders via a message on [platform X]. Acting upon directives from the public prosecutor’s office, the police swiftly arrested the individual. While the police spokesperson confirmed the arrest occurred under circumstances demanding immediate action, further details regarding the nature of the threat were not disclosed. The suspect is currently in police custody, undergoing questioning, and is scheduled to appear before a judge-commissioner on Monday.

Ongoing Threats to Wilders

Geert Wilders has faced credible death threats by Muslim terrorists and Islamic governments. His unwavering stance on issues such as mass illegal immigration and Islam has made him a target for Islamic and left-wing radicals.

Impact of Threats on Personal Life

As reportedly previously at RAIR Foundation USA, Wilders stood in a Dutch courtroom this past summer, addressing the trial against Khalid Latif, the Pakistani cricketer who issued a fatwa against him. He reflected on the profound impact of the threats and others like it have on his personal life.

Daily Life Under Threat

“A large part of my life now consists of daily death threats, forcing me to live without freedom,” Wilders disclosed. He shared the chilling reality of being on the death lists of the Taliban, Al Qaeda, and ISIS for a significant period. These threats aren’t merely idle words; they carry the weight of religious decrees. “Several fatwas have been issued against me by imams and mullahs, two of which were quite recent,” Wilders revealed. These religious death sentences, calling for Muslims worldwide to kill him, exacerbate the danger he faces regularly.

He explained, “Since November 2004, I’ve lived in high security, losing my personal freedom. I’ve never been home since then,” he shared. He described the extreme security measures he and his wife must endure, including living in a government-safe house and being unable to perform basic daily tasks without extensive planning.

I have lived in a prison with my wife for months for my safety, lived in a barracks, lived in a police station, had to dress unrecognizably in public with mustaches and wigs. And to this day, my wife and I live in a government safe house. Every day they drive me to the House of Representatives in armored and blinded cars and when the sirens go on I often use my AirPods.

I can’t do the most basic things that every human being does every day without thinking about it.

Quickly get some air. Empty the mailbox. Driving. Walk around the block. Quickly run a message in the store. Spontaneously go somewhere. Go somewhere alone.

The Toll of Constant Threats

The toll of these threats is immeasurable. Wilders revealed the overwhelming frequency of these threats, receiving about a thousand each year, often accompanied by explicit pictures, beheading videos, and audio recordings, primarily originating from Pakistan. This relentless onslaught restricts his freedom and casts a shadow over every aspect of his life, permeating his existence with a constant sense of peril. However, despite the inherent risks associated with his public persona, Wilders continues to advocate for his beliefs and fight to protect the Netherlands citizens.
