Germany Islamic Migrant Teens Plot Jihad Attack on Christmas Market One Sentenced Another Awaits Trial

In a horrifying Islamic terror plot to kill as many “unbelievers” as possible, 15-year-old Edris D. planned to drive a truck through a Christmas market in Leverkusen-Opladen. On Friday, the Cologne Regional Court sentenced the German-Afghan teenager to four years in youth detention for conspiracy to commit murder, disturbing the public peace by threatening criminal offenses, and using symbols of a banned organization, the Islamic State (IS).

The trial, held behind closed doors due to Edris D.’s age, confirmed the allegations presented by the Düsseldorf public prosecutor’s office. The court found that Edris had been radicalized since autumn 2023 and had, within weeks, conspired with his accomplice, 16-year-old Rasul M. from Brandenburg, to carry out an Islamist-motivated attack.

The Chilling Details of the Plot

Edris D. and Rasul M. planned to rent a truck and drive it through the Christmas market to kill as many visitors as possible, whom they deemed “unbelievers.” Edris would execute the Islamic attack while Rasul filmed the massacre to publish the video later online. Initially, the prosecutors believed they planned to use a van filled with gas bottles, but the trial revealed their intention to use a truck to run people over.

The court also considered a video published by Edris D. in a chat group, where he announced an attack on “infidels,” with an IS symbol visible in the background. Edris confessed to his crimes during the trial, which was taken into account during sentencing.

Radicalization and Arrests

The investigation into the attack uncovered a network of radicalized youth. Rasul M., who had been previously charged with distributing Islamist hate videos, was arrested in his bedroom in Wittstock/Dosse, Brandenburg. Born in Grozny, Chechnya, Rasul moved to Germany in 2014 with his parents. He is listed as an Islamic Sunni by Brandenburg’s security authorities and described as socially isolated, seeking contact through the Internet.

Rasul had become radicalized earlier in 2023 and openly expressed his hatred for non-Islamic elements. He posted propaganda videos for ISIS on Instagram, featuring bearded ISIS soldiers in camouflage, terrorist activities, and calls for jihad. These videos included extremist Islamic rhetoric and visuals glorifying terrorism.

Edris D. was apprehended by elite police officers in Burscheid, North Rhine-Westphalia, while on his way to school. His mother, shocked by the sudden police intervention, stated, “We didn’t suspect anything; the police suddenly came.”

Legal Proceedings and Implications

The trial against Rasul M. for conspiracy to commit murder is scheduled to begin on July 17 at the Neuruppin Regional Court. This case highlights the grave threat posed by Islamic migrant youth and the critical need for Western nations to enforce stricter border controls.
